Do you struggle with grey hair? What are the real truths and myths behind box dye.

Why and when does Grey hair first appear?

Studies show that grey hair is inherited by your parents. Other factors such as stress may also play a role in the process. If you want to know around what age you’ll begin to grow greys your best bet is to look at your parents rather than your current stress. I grew my first set of grey hair in my early twenties. I knew immediately it was inherited through my dad’s side of the family. My dad’s family is prone to early grays. My first set of grays went through phases. I would sometimes see a lot of grays and suddenly they would fade away. For the most part, I colored my hair lighter and the grays blended. Then in my early thirties my grays faded and I thought I had freed myself from the family curse. My mid thirties hit and the grays came back stronger than ever before.

Pandemic and Greys

During Covid, in the middle of lock down I wasn’t able to get a hair appointment or hair dye delivered. It was then I realized how important it was to have an at home product that could be fast, easy and reliable. It’s good to mention before Covid my hair was not at its prime. In my obsession to cover the grays I was visiting the hair salon quite often which caused my hair to look dull and damaged. In the process of coming out of Covid I chopped my hair off and that was another experience (also shared in another post). Since then it’s been a lot of up and downs with my haircare. After many hair disasters, I finally understood the only way to maintain healthy hair is to be meticulously informed before applying anything to your hair.

Paid Partnership

I recently partnered up with L’Oréal Paris in a paid partnership advertising their Excellence Universal Nudes at home hair dye. I used to always think box dye would damaged hair but Universal Nudes is ammonia free meaning it’s less harsh on hair. The at home application was fast, easy and it has 100% grey coverage. It is enriched with Pro-Keratin Complex, achieves rich, radiant and natural-looking color. It is gentle on the hair and scalp. The formula is free of parabens, phthalates and mineral oil. Made for all hair types and textures.

Cost of Covering Grey Hair

I used to spend $100-$150 every two weeks at my hair appointments and my hair looked dry and dull. L’Oréal Paris Excellence Universal Nudes runs under $15 and gives hair so much moisture and shine!

After seeing my results I have definitely changed my mind on this myth that box color damages hair. My hair looks and feels better than ever before.
